Nupur studied fashion design at NIFT, Kolkata. After graduating in 2002, she worked as a fashion stylist and writer with luxury lifestyle magazine Verve, post which she joined veteran couturier Anamika Khanna in 2004. After working as an assistant designer with Khanna, she ventured into her own eponymous label in 2006. The next few years, Kanoi focused on the retail aspect of her business, supplying to multi-designer stores such as Aza, Atosa, Carma, Elahe, Ensemble, Collage, and participating in various exhibitions across the country. In March 2012, she made her national runway debut. Ever since, she has been presenting her seasonal collections at Lakmé Fashion Week and is steadily making her presence felt on the Indian fashion radar. Her designs have been endorsed by celebrities and society personalities such as Aishwariya Rai, Kajol, SonamKapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Aparna Badlani, Kangana Ranaut, Esha Gupta, Priyanka Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari to name a few, and have been featured in several leading publications, both in print and online. Her work is experimental, multi-dimensional and highly detailed for which she has won many accolades such as “The Grazia Young Fashion Awards” in 2013 for “Indie-Cool”, “The Next Big Thing ” in a poll conducted by MissMalini.com in July 2012, and was featured as “The Top Crop Of This Year’s Finest” in the October 2012 issue of Elle. She was also featured in the article “The Year of the Young Designer” in Harper’s Bazaar in February 2013. She has also showcased her collection at the Kenya Worldwide Fashion Week in August 2015. She’s currently in the process of launching her first flagship store in Kolkata.
