GENERAL INFORMATION & ELIGIBLITY:

  • It is a special initiative by Lakmē Fashion Week (LFW) & The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) to provide a unique platform for designers from across India to showcase their collection at fashion week and reach the fashion industry both nationally & globally.

  • Event dates – October, 2024 in Delhi

  • To qualify, all designer applicants must present credentials and designs under Menswear (ready to wear), Women’s wear (ready to wear) / Both Categories.

  • If you are a designer applying to be part of this program, you must have been in business under one designer label name for minimum 5 years upto 9 years.

  • This season onwards it is mandatory for all the designers to apply under the Lakmē Fashion Week x The Fashion Design Council of India Designer Program, who fall within the above category and wish to showcase.

  • Lakmē Fashion Week x The Fashion Design Council of India Designer Program is an exclusive opportunity to access a strong national and international audience of buyers and media attending Lakmē Fashion Week in Partnership with The Fashion Design Council of India.

  • It is an opportunity to enjoy substantial media exposure, both locally and nationally.

  • This program is part of Lakmē Fashion Week & The Fashion Design Council of India that has established itself as one of India’s most definitive fashion brands, enabling Indian fashion to integrate with the global fashion world.

  • Designer can choose between 3 showcasing options provided by the organizers. (Kindly fill in the registration form below and choose your preferred option)

    1. Option 1: The Runway – This space can accommodate a traditional straight format of showcase

    2. Option 2: The Atelier – A space dedicated for experimental and experiential showcases. the designer has the freedom to express their creative presentation through interesting curation. The production cost will be borne by the designer

    3. Option 3: Both (The Runway or The Atelier - open to showcase at either of the two showcasing areas)

  • Kindly Note: Incase the designer chooses Option 2 or Option 3, kindly fill the slides (As per the PPT template shared) pertaining to the atelier showcase concept

Kindly note final approval to showcase at the Atelier will be basis the organisers discretion & slot availability. If not available, the designer will be considered for the Runway showcase. Incase the Atelier showcase concept is not shared in the presentation shared, the application will only be considered for Runway Option and NOT The Atelier option

  • Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with The Fashion Design Council of India October 2024 is a fluid season; it is upto the designers to choose which collection/season they would like to showcase as long as it is not released elsewhere.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

  • Originality of Concept & Innovation in Design– How creative and unique is the theme/concept/elements of the proposed collection for Lakmē Fashion Week in Partnership with The Fashion Design Council of India and the design philosophy of the label

  • Craftsmanship- The standard of tailoring, detailing and finishing of the collection should be of high quality.

  • Design Aesthetics- Balance of colours, patterns, prints or embroideries used in the proposed collection.

  • Clarity of Vision- The level of clarity behind the design philosophy of the label, theme of the proposed collection and execution.

  • Please note in case of Non-Sponsored shows, designer brands are eligible to showcase their collections during alternate seasons at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India only.

  • Kindly note it is mandatory for all showcasing designers to take a stall at the event. Cost of the same is covered within the overall show package.


APPLICATION PROCESS : All designers who wish to apply for the program must follow the below steps:


Phase ONE:

Step 1)

- Fill the online Registration Form "CLICK HERE"
(Kindly note it is mandatory to fill the registration form before submitting the presentation)

Step 2)

  • Download the power point presentation template "CLICK HERE"

  • Fill in the power point presentation with your label information, sketches and pictures of your designs- strictly as per instructions mentioned in the slides.

  • DO NOT tamper with the presentation format, there is no need for special effects/visuals.

  • Please mention Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with The Fashion Design Council of India Designer Program - *insert designer label name*” in the SUBJECT LINE of your email

  • Please do not submit physical samples at this stage.

  • Kindly refer to the guidance note for submission of presentation and pictures/ sketches mentioned in the PPT Template

  • Kindly ensure 12 Sketches from the collection and 4-6 developed samples are shared as part of your application

  • Incase designer is keen to showcase at the Atelier, Designer to fill additional slides mentioned in PPT template pertaining to the Atelier showcase concept

Once the applicant has filled the registration form and emailed the presentation, this will be reviewed and the candidate will be notified via email.


Phase TWO – (for applicants who are selected in Phase ONE)

SUBMISSIONS:

  • Once an applicant has submitted the Registration form & Presentation, this will be reviewed and the candidate will be notified via email whether the application has been selected or not for phase 2.

  • Once the applicant has been selected, the designer may be asked to send physical sample looks from the presentation submitted which will be considered for the Jury shortlist.

SELECTION GUIDELINES:

  • All applications for LAKMĒ FASHION WEEK X The Fashion Design Council of India Designer Program’ are screened and examined anonymously by the LAKMĒ FASHION WEEK X The Fashion Design Council of India Advisory Board.

  • This board comprises of Leading Journalists, Educationists, Designer Storeowners, Buyers, Senior Designers as well as a representative from The Fashion Design Council of India, Lakmē & Reliance Brands LTD.

  • The board makes the final selection based on the designers’ quality, design, innovation, originality and ability to legitimately take their business to the next level.

SHOWCASING FEE


If selected, the showcasing designer will have to pay the slot fee as per the below table

  • Media exposure & PR support

  • Stall at the Showroom (Kindly note it is mandatory to take up a stall)

Terms & Conditions

  1. Label must be in business under the same designer label name for minimum 5 years upto 9 years & presents credentials and designs under menswear (ready to wear) or women’s wear (ready to wear) / both categories.

  2. Designer must submit the presentation & fill the registration form as per the deadline mentioned and the selected designer must proactively participate and fully co-operate with The Fashion Design Council of India, Hindustan Unilever Limited & Reliance Brands Limited (the “Organizers”) towards ensuring all the deliverables & timelines are met on time.

  3. While filling the registration form, Designer can choose between 3 showcasing options provided by the organizers. Either Runway Showcase or Atelier Showcase or Both. Final approval to showcase at the Atelier will be basis the organisers discretion & slot availability. If not available, the designer will be considered for the Runway showcase. Cost for the Atelier set to be borne by the designer.

  4. Incase of Non-Sponsored shows, designer brands are eligible to showcase their collections during alternate seasons at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India only.

  5. It is mandatory for all showcasing designers to take a stall at the event. Cost of the same is covered within the overall show package.

  6. The collection submitted should not be released or showcased elsewhere including retail, social media / Digital or print media, stores or E-commerce. It is up to the designer to decide which season/collection he/she wants to showcase at the event.

  7. Designer to strictly follow & ensure the collection submitted is as per the evaluation criteria, guidance note & guidelines set forth by the organisers in the application kit

  8. All designs submitted / to be showcased must be an original work of the showcasing designer. The designer alone shall be solely responsible and indemnify the Organizers for any claims, including but not limited to copyright/trademark infringement, legal costs etc. Under no circumstances whatsoever, shall the Organizers be responsible and/or liable for any such claims received..

  9. Designers selected in Phase 1 will be asked to send physical garments looks under Phase 2 of the selection process

  10. Designers hereby acknowledge that they are sending garments at their own risk and FDCI, RBL or HUL (Lakmē Fashion Week) won’t be liable in the event that the garments get lost or damaged during transit or during the course of selection process.

  11. Designers selected under the “Lakmē Fashion Week X The Fashion Design Council of India Designer Program”:

    • Will showcase their collection through an On-ground show in Delhi at the Lakmē Fashion Week in Partnership with The Fashion Design Council of India October 2024 edition.

    • Must showcase the number of looks as mentioned below 2 designer show (The Runway or The Atelier): 20-22 looks (Excluding showstopper look) 3 designer show (The Runway): 16 looks (Excluding showstopper look) Single designer show (The Runway or The Atelier): 32-38 looks (Excluding showstopper look) Please note the paring & show slot decision will be taken by the Organizer. The sequence of showcase is as per alphabetical order of the Label Name.

    • Must proactively participate in shooting / creating (Sponsor and Non-Sponsor) content for Lakmē Fashion Week in Partnership with The Fashion Design Council of India.

    • Must pay the showcasing fee upon show confirmation. The Runway showcase: Solo Designer Showcase Rs 6 Lacs + Taxes, 2 Designer Showcase Rs 3.5 lacs + Taxes (per label) & 3 Designer Rs 2.5 lacs + Taxes (per label) The Atelier showcase: Single designer showcase Rs 6 lacs + Taxes & 2 Designer Showcase Rs 3.5 lacs + Taxes (per label) - Show set cost will be additional.

    • Must be ready with the showcasing garments prior to the allotted fittings slot given by the organisers at the official fittings venue in Delhi prior to the event.

    • Must present original work at the Fashion Show and ensure that no work is a reproduction of any other Lakmē Fashion Week X The Fashion Design Council of India /non Lakmé Fashion Week X The Fashion Design Council of India designer.

    • Must provide all the requisite information/details required by the organizers within the prescribed time to avoid any delays.

    • Must not enter in any brand collaboration of a commercial/promotional nature linked to your show at Lakmē Fashion Week in Partnership with The Fashion Design Council of India

    • Will be provided with a pool of models, Hair & Make-up team, Show director, Music coordinator and Backstage team for the show, cost of the same to be borne by the organizer

    • Must take care of any additional expenses such as Show Setup & LED cost for the show, Extra Models / Extra Models Hair & Makeup cost, accessories / shoes cost, travel / Logistic and garment transportation cost etc.

    • Must use personal and brand social media handles to promote the show at Lakmē Fashion Week in Partnership with The Fashion Design Council of India using the event tags & hashtags

    • Should invite relevant guests for the show basis the number of passes provided by the organizers
