PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
NIF Global presents GenNext Designer Program is one of the most coveted designer talent discovery programs globally that has been the launch pad of some of the most sought-after names today in the Indian fashion industry.
In the past 34 seasons, over 180 designers have made their debut under the ‘GenNext’ designer program.
Alumni of this program includes illustrious names such as Aneeth Arora of Pero, Kallol Datta, Masaba Gupta, and Rahul Mishra, among many others. Some of the emerging young designers who have enjoyed success immediately after their GenNext launch include names such as Rimzim Dadu, Kanika Goyal, Akshat Bansal of Bloni, Anvita Sharma of Two Point Two, Saaksha & Kinni, Amit Vijaya & Richard Pandav of Amrich, Bodice by Ruchika Sachdeva, Ujjawal Dubey of Antar-Agni, Ragini Ahuja of Ikai, Kunal Rawal and many more.

NIF Global presents GenNext Designer Program gives a chosen designer the privilege to be mentored and groomed by leading authorities in the Indian fashion industry for their launch show at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI
NIF Global's GenNext Designer Program has established itself as one of India’s most definitive fashion platforms, enabling India to integrate with the global fashion industry.
ELIGIBILTY
Applicant’s label/company should be under five years in the business & should not have showcased elsewhere on any ramp.
Applicants must demonstrate solid work experience at fashion houses/retail stores or in any creative capacity in the fashion industry.
To qualify, all applicants must present credentials and designs under menswear (ready to wear) or womenswear (ready to wear) categories or both.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
NIF Global presents GenNext Designer Program at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI is a platform for young Indian designers to conceptualize imaginative, original and thought provoking ‘story based’ collections for a discerning fashion audience in India and globally.
Originality of Concept & Innovation in Design: How creative and unique is the theme/concept/elements of the proposed collection.
Craftsmanship: The quality of tailoring, detailing and finishing of the collection is expected to be that of high designer quality.
Design Aesthetics: Balance of colours, patterns, prints or embroideries used in the proposed collection.
Clarity of Vision: The level of clarity behind the design philosophy of the label, theme of the proposed collection and execution.
The collection submitted should not have been showcased elsewhere, especially on any social media platforms including the designer’s website.
The final selection of GenNext designers will be decided by the esteemed jury based on designers credentials & samples from the forthcoming collection.
This jury comprises of leading Journalists, Educationists, Buyers, Senior Designers as well as a representative from FDCI, Lakmē & Reliance Brands Limited.
Overall, a GenNext applicant must showcase clarity in vision for the label through its aesthetic and design philosophy, concept of the proposed collection and execution.
The GenNext Designer Program is presented by NIF GLOBAL, an official sponsor at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI
APPLICATION PROCESS: The Application process essentially entails 2 phases:
1. Phase ONE:
Submission of Application Form : ‘CLICK HERE’
You need to submit the application form before submitting the PPT
Submission of PPT for collection: ‘CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD PPT TEMPLATE’
Fill in the power point presentation of 7 slides only with your label information, sketches and pictures of your two constructed sample garments- strictly as per instructions mentioned in the slides. Kindly only duplicate the slide incase you have more samples.
Please adhere to the guidelines on pictures & sketches as mentioned in the template
Complete PPTs need to be emailed to mehuli.mehta@ril.com and Anusree.nair@ril.com in PPT format
Email subject line should be “GenNext - *insert designer label name’’
Please do not submit physical samples until asked, only attach images in the PPT.
Kindly refer to the guidance note below for submission of presentation and pictures & sketches
Last date for submission of the PPT is 14th June 2025
Please note : DO NOT tamper with the presentation format, there is no need for special effects/visuals
On successful completion of both the above steps, the application will be reviewed & the designer will be notified via email.
2. Phase TWO: (If selected in Phase ONE) Submission of physical garments
The selected applicant to send any 2-3 physical samples from the collection submitted in the presentation
The selected applicant to physically present their collection to the jury
The shipping details to courier your garments will be shared via email closer to the jury date
The designers will be responsible for shipping their garments for the selections
GUIDANCE NOTES FOR SUBMISSION OF PRESENTATION
The collection submitted should not be showcased elsewhere on any ramp
Designers should submit their original work and avoid any attempt towards plagiarism.
Any kind of inspiration used in the theme/collection should be explicitly mentioned.
The two samples submitted in the presentation should clearly highlight the theme of the collection.
Designers should mention only 3 important recognitions/achievements till date in a chronological order in the presentation.
GUIDELINES FOR PICTURES & SKETCHES
Pictures of the 2 garment samples submitted in the presentation should be clear and of high quality.
Incase the images cannot be professionally shot, the Pictures of the 2 garment samples can be shot on a model, dummy or mannequin against a plain white or black background.
Avoid shooting the garments on hangers.
Pictures of the samples on a model/ dummy /mannequin should be styled appropriately and should indicate the right placement incase of an accessory used.
In-case collection carries separates like trousers, tops or jackets, the pictures should clearly indicate the complete look.
Designers should provide high quality sketches in the presentation.
